Nancy Mulligans Bar & Kitchen
If you're walking down Castle Street in Belfast and looking for a spot that blends warm Irish hospitality with hearty plates and live music vibes, Nancy Mulligans Bar & Kitchen is where your boots should land. Tucked in at 95 Castle St, this bar & kitchen combo feels like that place you always hope to stumble upon but rarely do-casual, buzzing, and steeped in character.
Let’s start with what hits your plate and fills your glass. If there’s one dish that defines comfort, it's Nancy’s Big Breakfast. Think sizzling rashers, plump sausages, perfectly fried eggs, baked beans, and toast-basically, everything your soul craves after a late night or a lazy weekend morning. But don’t stop there. The Honey Chilli Chicken is a crowd-pleaser with just the right punch of spice, sticky sweetness, and crunch. It's ideal as a solo craving fix or shared alongside a pint with mates. Speaking of pints, their Guinness Draught comes just right-creamy, velvety, and properly poured, the way any proper Belfast pub should serve it.
Nancy Mulligans doesn’t mess around when it comes to drink selections either. Their great beer selection alone is worth a stop, featuring everything from crisp lagers to deep stouts. If you’re more into spirits, the Irish whiskey list covers classics and a few hidden gems. Fancy a cocktail? Go for one of their signature mixes-balanced, bold, and always served with flair. And if you’re feeling a bit fancy, Raclette makes a surprise appearance on the menu, adding a gooey twist to this otherwise pub-forward lineup.
Now, let’s talk vibe. Live music is a staple here. From acoustic duos belting folk favourites to full-band performances that fill the room with energy, this place turns up the charm as soon as the instruments come out. It's not just about background tunes-it’s a performance space where you can enjoy your roast beef dinner while tapping your foot to a local act. On top of that, the bar hosts live performances beyond music, creating a full-circle entertainment experience.
Accessibility is thoughtfully handled. The entrance, seating, and toilets are all wheelchair-accessible, making sure everyone feels welcome, no matter the circumstance. That kind of consideration doesn’t always get attention-but here, it’s part of the standard.
Dine-in is a popular choice thanks to the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, but if you’re craving those Tayto crisps with a cold beer from the comfort of your couch, both delivery and takeaway options are on the table. Whether you're looking for a place to catch the game-yes, it's a solid spot for watching sports-or you're simply hunting down a midweek food fix with flair, Nancy Mulligans doesn’t just tick the boxes; it pours a pint while doing so.
Need to fuel up before a night out? The Chicken Stacker packs a flavorful punch and pairs perfectly with one of their craft ales. Prefer something lighter? The Octopus dish might surprise you with its freshness and refined seasoning. And for burger fans? Their Beef Burger doesn’t play around-juicy, stacked, and nestled in a toasted bun that holds up to every bite.
Add to all this a well-stocked bar (yes, they serve wine, spirits, cocktails, and beer) and a space that accommodates anything from solo diners to boisterous friend groups, and you’ve got a recipe that keeps locals returning and visitors recommending. There's something special about a place that feels equally like a neighborhood hangout and a hidden gem-Nancy Mulligans Bar & Kitchen captures that balance effortlessly.

Great atmosphere and I happened to stumble on this place. Lots of seating upstairs and they had a great special two courses for 14p! The girl upstairs was attentive and great service. The chicken stack was so good. Definitely worth checking out. I'll be back!
The best Irish stew I've ever had the breakfast is very good as well as is the guinness at £5.50 its one of the cheaper ones in the city. All the staff are nice and friendly. The food here was excellent, as were the beer and the service. We were seated for dinner right away with no wait, which was a nice bonus. They have a fantastic deal: a two-course meal for just $14.99, which is great value. For dinner, we had the honey chili chicken and the chicken stacker—both dishes were delicious. Highly recommend this place for a great meal and a great deal!
